Sick of carrying those ugly looking PVC rod holders around, you need something that is more versatile, compact and easy to carry. Well you don’t have to look any further. Let me introduce you to Brian Jose, the inventor of BEACHMASTER the ultimate beach and rock fishing accessory. I had the opportunity to use one of these compact, easy to carry and very versatile ultimate rod holders. Made out of high grade polished stainless steel, a carry strap, and two locking nuts, that secures your rod, and another one which drops a spike, making it easy to insert your BEACHMASTER into the sand or even locking it into a gap on a rocks. So throw away your PVC rod holder and get you hands on a BEACHMASTER a must for all your land based fishing needs. To check out more about the BEACHMASTER, go to their website by clicking here.

The Sygna was a 53,000 tonne Norwegian bulk carrier and now shipwreck on Stockton Beach, New South Wales, Australia. The ship ran aground during a major storm on 26 May 1974 and the wreck has become an icon and landmark for the local area. Thanks to Les Ritter Gyprock Plastering who provided me with this video and the owner of this clip, who wishes to remain nameless, Has given Newcastle Fishing the rights to display the video. No reproductions of this clip can be made in any form or displayed on any other site, with out written permission from Newcastle Fishing.

Lake Macquarie/Swansea Report
Ho Ho Ho & a very merry xmas to all & a happy new year, Well as the silly season approaches upon us let me say that there is some silly fun to be had at green point, with the king fish on the chew on soft plastic's. A recent mid week fish by yours truely,PRODUCED results, on 5'' tandori's gulps, as they smashed a full pack, but ya get that. The end result was landing a nice young 52cm king on 6lb leader GREAT fight & even better to release to fight a nother day.
When fishing green point be sure to burly up hard on your designated structure & give it time, you WILL get results, spend the time to sound around before you drop anchor, hit the deep water edges 30ft is ya max & it's happy days, send some dead baits out, use the butterfly rigg because ya never know whats neck'n round for a feed like them big flattys,
The sunken rocks in the channel are holding bream in close under the cover of darkness but they are on the mark.
On the southern side, the run in tide has been best for bream & whiting
but don't be shy to drift the shallow water for them,The whiting are about but not in great numbers as they love the clear water & hot days, they are round pulbah they tell me, early morning in the shallows is the go, good luck & tight lines & have a great xmas & safe new year & remember fish have tails.

Nelson Bay Reports
It's been a few weeks since my last report so this one covers all the news from the hirers of the past two weeks who went fishing plus a few outings myself.

The weather has really warmed up over the last couple of weeks and the fishing is getting better to. Hirer Marty Bracher took the Kimberley out on the 28th and whilst he did get a bit of rain he still managed to bag flatties both offshore and inshore. Marty worked the drift from Point Stephens (Fingal Lighthouse) through to the Tomaree headland with good success. Later in the day he tried the western reaches of the bay and managed more flatties and a few Bream off the oyster leases in Tilligerry Creek just up from the Lemon Tree Passage boat ramp.

Hirers Athol, Tony and the boys headed out the next day and also worked the drift from Fingal Lighthouse through to Tomaree Headland for a nice mixed bag. Check out the Image Gallery under the Port Stephens location of http://www.boabboathire.com.au for some pics.

This drift is a fantastic spot to fish. The lighthouse is the 2Nm limit for the Kimberley and it does it with ease. The area provides good protection from any southerly winds or swells and it always fishes great. For those wishing to try something with a bit more fight then instead of drifting with a bottom bashing rig try moving in a bit closer to the little island just off the point, it's a great spot for snapper and kingies. Throw a plastic, a pillie or troll some skirted lurers or surface poppers.

Speaking of Kings that's the other thing to report from Athol & Tony's day. I've tried over past weeks unsuccessfully but the boys managed to hook a Kingy off the Breakwall whilst trolling a skirted lure. Unfortunately it was lost boat side but it shows there's some good fishing to be had in the comfort of the bay.

During Tuesday & Wednesday of last week I was lucky enough to have 5 Boab boats and a whole crew of people in town for the filming of an ad we'll be displaying in the local Nelson Bay cinema. And even more luckily we were finished by midday Wednesday allowing us time to head out for a fish in the afternoon. With a couple of young kids onboard we didn't want to go far so we headed to the trusty flatty grounds as mentioned above. We must have hit the pre-school though as 25 or more flatties in and we only had one legal one. A few nice flounder added to the catch though.

So of recent most of the fishing has been around the Breakwall or over the flatty grounds offshore but these areas are producing fish each and every time so it's well worth a try.
